You'd be surprised to know that the majority of sunglasses sold on eBay are actually authentic and not fakes. People are worried about reiceiving fakes as many are being sold across the web, but eBay is different and does take sellers selling fakes seriously and most often, with many complaints, are quickly removed. So they are never there for very long.

When you are looking for sunglasses, check the sellers feedback as this can narrow the search for sellers selling authentic sunglasses. If you are looking at the overall sellers percentage, this is not always the best indicator as people usually like to buy from sellers with a high percentage like 99% and up, but lets be realistic, these days it's so hard for eBay sellers as eBay is a buyers market place, so keep an open mind and maybe somewhere around 92% and up.

Ok so now look at their neutral and negative feedback, but have in mind and look at the big picture, lets say they have 20,000 positive feedbacks then about 30 negatives, that isn't bad overall, but some people take these negatives more to heart than listening to the other 19,970 people who were satisfied, also consider roughly only 55% of people actually leave feedback, so that other 45% are usually happy with the their order and did not have anything to complain about.

So look for sellers with several thousand positive feedbacks, if they do have negatives saying they received fakes, check the overall percentage, as if they have 20,000 feedbacks and maybe 10 saying fakes, can you honestly believe these 10 people could not be fooled? They are usually just customers who think they are experts when they are clearly not. As there is no way to scam 20,000 people but only 10 couldn't, if a seller was selling fakes, they would have so many more negative feedbacks and usually like mentioned before, they would be kicked off eBay.

It is against eBays policy to claim an item as being authentic when it is not, you cannot even mention things such as "similar" to "like" in their listings. For most brands, the seller is asked before the item is listed if the item they are listing is authentic, if they are unsure of the authenticity, they advise not to list the item as it will be a violation of eBay policies.

You may also be wandering why the eyeglasses/sunglasses sold on eBay is much lower than retail stores. The reason is if the item is listed at full retail  cost, why buy them on eBay? You would simply just go down to your local store and purchase the item, as you would get them the same day and would not have to wait for the item to arrive via mail. Also eBay is a site for great deals, retail prices wouldn't be a great deal.

Let's be real here, ladies: the sunglasses market just isn't friendly to us women with anything bigger than those slender, Chanel model faces. If you've got yourself a set of cute little cherub cheeks to go with that head, shopping for sunglasses can be a test of perseverance. I feel your struggle, fellow big headed ladies, but I'm going to show you some tried and true models to make that head of yours look fabulous while it's toting around all that knowledge (that's why our heads are big, right? Right).

First up: The Ray Ban New WayFarer (RB 2132)

This classically trendy frame is available in a 52mm or a 55mm. You're looking for the 55mm. This frame is especially friendly to all of us who have those round cheeks when we smile--you know, the ones that always push up whatever glasses we're wearing! The Ray Ban Original WayFarer (available in a 54mm size) may also fit, but with a taller lens, it's not the ideal solution for those of us who like to have any facial expressions in them.  The best part? Previously only available in plain colors like black or brown, Ray Ban has been beefing up the New Way Farer line with matte blues, beiges, and pinks!

Next, the Swarovski April (SK0012 or SW12)

This beauty is a spacious 60mm sized frame with an oversized look. Despite the oversized lenses, there is very little cheek interference in these. The fit is oh-so comfortable and the look is one of understated elegance. In fact, much of the Swarovski line fits our lovely heads. With a line full of frames that are limited only by your preference (and not by 'what fits'), shopping for Swaroski is a treat. This is the one that got away, y'all. This frame is lovely as lovely can be, but when the store associate gave me a figure that was more than my monthly rent, I about fainted. I've heard they can be had for a much more reasonable sum nowadays. The frame has a comfortable width, perfect lens height and a stylish look to boot. If you find a pair, snatch those babies up and fall in love for yourselves!

Yes plastic frames can be adjusted to better fit you face. Maybe it's too tight, hurts you ears or does not sit right on your face. But most of these issues can be resolved by having them adjusted for you By an optician.

You can simply go to a optical near you and just tell them the problem you are having, and usually they would adjust the frames for free even if you did not buy from them, if so always try and give them atleast something for it as they did just do you a favor. Maybe give them like $5 so you can treat them to lunch, I'm sure they would like that.

Also try and not go to chains like Lens Crafters, Sunglass Hut etc... as they are more picky about adjusting frames not bought from them as they do not want to be responsible for a broken frame. But unless you guess something clueless, this rarely happens. So try and go to your local optical.

How to Spot Fake Persols

How to Spot Fake Persols

There are several things you can do to ensure your Persol's are authentic and not a fake.

1. Check that they are "Hand Made in Italy" all Persol sunglasses and eyeglasses are made in Italy by Luxottica who is the manufacturer for Persol. Persol are not made anywhere else, so if you told they are, it's a lie and you have yourself a fake Persol. All it always says Hand Made in Italy, not just made in Italy, so look out for that.

2. Your Persol should come in a box and the following included, a Persol cleaning cloth, Persol Case, Luxottica info booklet and a International Guarantee Certificate, Persols do not come with any kind of authenticity card, so do not expect one.

3. Also, on Persol sunglasses, there is always a engraving which reads "Persol" on the right lens on the top right corner.

4. Also one of the temples will have this same exact serial number engraved on to it, this is to confirm that the lenses and frame hasn't been altered in anyway and that they go together.

5. Check the inside of your temples, on one side, it'll have a printing that says something like this "PO 2989-S 24/57 57 [] 18-140" Below is what they stand for...

-The S after the model number stands for Sun, in RX frames, it'll end with a V, the V stands for Vision.
-The PO 2989-S is the model number of your frame.
-The 24/57 is the color code for the frame. Persol color codes contain between 4-5 numbers, the first numbers before the / is the frame color code and the last numbers are the lens color code.
-The 57 [] 18-140, it'll be 3 numbers, this is the measurement for the frame and is measured in Millimeters, the first number 57mm is the lens width, 18mm is the bridge width and the 140mm is the temple length.

6. If your Persol sunglasses claim to be polarized, don't just take their word for it. You can do a simple check if they are polarized. All you need is your computer monitor and your sunglasses! Put your sunglasses in front of the computer monitor and turn it to the right, while looking through the lens at the monitor. At a certain angle, if they are polarized, the screen behind will seem to go dark. If it does not do anything, then it is not polarized. If the sunglasses claim to be polarized, but don't show polarization in this test, you either have a fake on your hands or an error was made during manufacturing. I've seen some frames come out of the factory with a faulty polarization, so don't rule that out.

But usually if a Persol is polarized, they do put a sticker on the lens that reads "POLARIZED" and under neath "Persol". Also if the lenses are polarized, with the engraving on the lens, it'll have a P next to it, so it would read "Persol P" if the lenses are polarized.

7. Check the fonts on your Persol sunglasses. Many times, fake Persol sunglasses get this part wrong. They attempt to do it as close as possible, but rarely ever get it 100% right. If you have an authentic pair available, compare the fonts used.

8. The best thing to do is to go to a authorized Persol dealer in your area and compare the one you have with the one in the store and they should be more or less identical. As mentioned, certain specifications printed on the interior temples could be on the opposite, but that's common across frames as they could have been an error with that particular batch.

You could ask the person in the store for their opinion, but definitely take it with a grain of salt. Stores are staffed with sales people, after all, and helping you to determine whether the frame you bought at a discount from their prices isn't making them any sales! Even mentioned the words "bought online" seem to automatically trigger them to tell you that your frame is fake-but, you're in luck, you can buy the one they have there! Sometimes you'll find a gem of a salesperson who can truly help, but be aware some are less than knowledgeable. So I would suggest going to more than one place and getting multiple opinions.

9. Buying your Persols online? There are lots of fakes being sold online, but there are also legitimate sellers as well, so don't assume they are all fakes because it is being sold online.

You should look at things like if they are standing by their products, such as "100% Authentic Guaranteed". People who are selling fakes may not want to put that because it isn't authentic, but sometimes they might, look closely and lots of times maybe at the bottom or somewhere around the page, you might see something like "replica Persol", "looks like Persol", "similar to Persol", "good Persol copy" as if they mention that, then they can't really get in trouble because they told you it was a fake vaguely, so read their page carefully.

If you're buying Persol sunglasses on eBay or Amazon, you should look closely at their feedback, if they have too many negatives and mentioning the item they bought was a fake, you might want to be careful. But take a look at the big picture! Let's say they have over 2 thousand feedback's in a year and they only have like 1-3 negatives saying they are fake. Are you honestly going to take the word of 1-3 people? What about the other 1,997 happy customers- are they all that stupid? Not everyone is as skilled as you're going to be at spotting fake frames and may jump the gun! Look at the feedback ratio and go from there.
