How to Spot Fake Dior's

This guide will help you identify fake Dior sunglasses by showing you what to expect with a authentic pair of Dior sunglasses.

1. All Dior sunglasses are made in Italy and nowhere else. If you end up with Dior sunglasses not made in Italy, then you're probably looking at a fake Dior sunglass.

2. Dior sunglasses are made by Safilo Group, which is a Italian company. They own and manufacture Dior sunglasses. If it was made by anybody else, it is not a authentic Dior.

3. Check the fonts on your Dior sunglasses. Many times, fake Dior sunglasses get this part wrong. They attempt to do it as close as possible, but rarely ever get it right. If you have an authentic pair available, compare the fonts used.

4.  If your Dior sunglasses claim to be polarized, don't just take their word for it. You can do a simple check if they are polarized. All you need is your computer monitor and your sunglasses! Put your sunglasses in front of the computer monitor and turn it to the right, while looking through the lens at the monitor behind. At a certain angle, if they are polarized, the screen behind will seem to go dark. If it does not do anything, then it is not polarized. If the sunglasses claim to be polarized, but don't show polarization in this test, you either have a fake on your hands or an error was made during manufacturing. I've seen some frames come out of the factory with a faulty polarization, so don't rule that out.

5. All Dior sunglasses come with it's own unique serial number for each of their sunglasses. The serial number should be on the lens and on the inside of the temples, the numbers should be identical to each other. The serial number is always 10 digits consisting of both numbers and letters, also the letters are always in capital letters, lots of Dior fakes won't have the serial number, but if they do, they might forget to do it capital letters.

So if there is no serial number on your Dior sunglasses, you most likely have a fake Dior.

6. The majority of Dior sunglasses will come with the grey box, white rectangle case, small white booklet, grey cloth and the grey cloth/soft carrying case. Unless you have a model from the Dior Les Marquises collection, most of them come with the black box, grey cloth, small white booklet and a soft case, model like the Mohotani comes with the black box.

7. Dior does not come with any kind of authenticity card, which you would think they should as they are not the cheapest sunglasses. Lots of people expect some kind of authenticity document, but unfortunately there isn't any, so don't expect one with your purchase of Dior sunglasses.

8. Authentic Dior sunglasses always has the model name, color code and the size listed on the frames. About 90% of models, the models name is on the left side by itself, then the color code and size is normally on the left temple tip, but like I mentioned, not all models do this, but the majority does. Then the Made in Italy is usually on the right temple.

Here is an example...
Model Name - DIORONDINE
Color Code - 807HD "The color code is always 5 digits, the first 3 numbers are the color of the frame, then the last 2 is the lens color code"
Size - 58[]18 125 "The first number 58 is the lens width, the second number 18 is the bridge width and the third number 125 is the temple length. All glasses are measured in Millimeters"

9. The best thing to do is to go to a authorized Dior dealer in your area and compare the one you have with the one in the store and they should be more or less identical. As mentioned, certain specifications printed on the interior temples could be on the opposite, but that's common across frames as they could have been an error with that particular batch.

You could ask the person in the store for their opinion, but definitely take it with a grain of salt. Stores are staffed with sales people, after all, and helping you to determine whether the frame you bought at a discount from their prices isn't making them any sales! Even mentioned the words "bought online" seem to automatically trigger them to tell you that your frame is fake-but, you're in luck, you can buy the one they have there! Sometimes you'll find a gem of a salesperson who can truly help, but be aware some are less than knowledgeable.

10.  Buying your Dior's online? There are lots of fakes being sold online, but there are also legitimate sellers as well, so don't assume they are all fakes because it is being sold online.

You should look at things like if they are standing by their products, such as "100% Authentic Guaranteed". People who are selling fakes may not want to put that because it isn't authentic, but sometimes they might, look closely and lots of times maybe at the bottom or somewhere around the page, you might see something like "replica Dior", "looks like Dior", "similar to Dior", "good Dior copy" as if they mention that, then they can't really get in trouble because they told you it was a fake vaguely, so read their page carefully.

If you're buying Dior sunglasses on eBay or Amazon, you should look closely at their feedback, if they have too many negatives and mentioning the item they bought was a fake, you might want to be careful. But take a look at the big picture! Let's say they have over 2 thousand feedback's in a year and they only have like 1-3 negatives saying they are fake. Are you honestly going to take the word of 1-3 people? What about the other 1,997 happy customers- are they all that stupid? Not everyone is as skilled as you're going to be at spotting fake frames and may jump the gun! Look at the feedback ratio and go from there.

I hope this guide has brought out a bit of your inner nerd and offered some education so that you, too, can be a fake-detecting, imitation sensing sunglass sleuth!

What is the difference between Prada Linea Rossa and Prada Sport?

Prada Linea Rossa and the Prada Sport lines are both made by Prada, they are just 2 separate lines that they offer.

The Prada Linea Rossa line has more of a casual Look and the Prada sports are more sporty.

Both lines are extremely simple to tell apart, so here is a few things to look out for.

1.  You can check the model number, have in mind, a few does share the same model number, but it's still easy to tell them apart. So let's use the 54I as an example,  Prada Sport frames starts off with SPS and the Prada Linea Rossa starts with SPR, so a Prada sport model number will be SPS 54I and the Prada Linea Rossa will be SPR 54I

2. The cases they come with is also different. A Prada sport only comes with the case, cloth and a booklet (booklets only come if they are sunglasses)

The Prada Linea Rossa comes with a box, cloth, case, authenticity card and a booklet (again booklets only come with the sunglasses)

3. Prada Sports are also easy to tell apart as they always have red on the temples. The Prada Linea Rossa line does not.

What is the H sticker on Oakleys?

Some Oakleys come with a sticker which has a H on them, the H simply stands for Hydrophobic.  It just means that the lenses are water resistant, so it's really good if you play some sports involving water or it's good simply when it rains as it repels water.

I know people tend to think products coming out of china is a bunch of junk, but the Ray-Bans made in china is still by them, just one is put together by the Chinese and the other by the Italians.

The Hydrophobic lenses are also "lipophobic" as well. So grease and such (oil from your hair if you put your sunglasses up on your head) should be easier to clean off the lens.

Even if a Oakley doesn't have the H sticker, it's does not always mean it isn't Hydrophobic, like the polarized lenses, some come with the P sticker and some don't even if they are polarized.

How to Spot Fake Gucci

This guide will help you identify fake Gucci sunglasses by showing you what to expect with a authentic pair of Gucci sunglasses.

1. All Gucci sunglasses sunglasses are made in Italy-nowhere else. If you end up with Gucci sunglasses not made in Italy, then you're probably looking at a fake Gucci sunglass.

2. Gucci sunglasses are made by Safilo Group, which is a Italian company. They own and manufacture Gucci sunglasses. If it was made by anybody else, it is not authentic.

(UPDATE: Number 3 might not be relevant to you if you bought your Gucci after 2014 or later, it now comes with a different case, cloth and authenticity card, So click here to go to this post for this part)

3.  Almost all Gucci sunglasses comes with the gold Gucci box, a brown cloth, and an authenticity card in an envelope. Sometimes you'll also receive a booklet which has information about how to adjust acetate frames, but only if the frame you've purchased is made of acetate. If it's a metal frame, you probably won't receive the booklet. Regarding all the typical accompaniments- the color of the items does vary, I've noticed. Sometimes they will be closer to a chocolate brown color, other times, I've seen differing shades of brown-gold. It seems most Gucci's moving into the new season will be moving to a chocolate brown palette, away from the standard gold.

Some of them do not come with the box, either. This collection below comes with the black case, a cloth case, which is a soft case which is made of cloth material.

 4. Also it might come with the plastic bag which is used to protect the sunglasses, the bags have the manufacturers name on it.

5. Gucci sunglasses do not come with any kind of serial number, so do not expect one to be on the frame.

6. All the authentic Gucci sunglasses will have the model number, color code and the size printed on the inside of the temples. Again, which side it is printed on does vary. I've seen it on the right and left temples.

The model number should be like this

GG 1827/S

The GG stands for Gucci; 1827 is the model number and the S at the end just stands for sunglasses.

Then it will be the color code-always a 5 digits, sometimes it is all letters, but some have numbers too. In this code we are using as a demonstration, it is all letters, BNCIS. The first 3 are the color code of the frame and then the last 2 is always the color code of the lens color.

Most of them should have the size, some may not, but if it does, it should look like this 63[]11 130. Sometimes on other models, it only has the 63[]11, the first number is the lens width, the second number is the bridge width and the third number is the temple length.

7. Usually after the MADE IN ITALY on the inside of the temples, it should say CE. The CE marking is a declaration by the manufacturer that the product meets all the appropriate provisions of the relevant legislation implementing certain European Directives. CE marking gives companies easier access into the European market to sell their products without adaptation or rechecking. The letters CE stand for "Conformité Européenne" which means "European Conformity". They are a declaration by the manufacturer that his product meets the requirements of the applicable European Directive(s).

8. If your Gucci sunglasses come with nose pads, they should have the Gucci logo in them. Many fakes forget this small little detail because they think you will too!

9. Check the fonts on your Gucci sunglasses. Many times, fake Gucci sunglasses get this part wrong. They attempt to do it as close as possible, but rarely ever get it right. If you have an authentic pair available, compare the fonts used.

10. If your Gucci sunglasses claim to be polarized, don't just take their word for it.
11. The best thing to do is to go to a authorized Gucci dealer in your area and compare the one you have with the one in the store and they should be more or less identical. As mentioned, certain specifications printed on the interior temples could be on the opposite, but that's common across frames.

You could ask the person in the store for their opinion, but definitely take it with a grain of salt. Stores are staffed with sales people, after all, and helping you to determine whether the frame you bought at a discount from their prices isn't making them any sales! Even mentioned the words "bought online"  seem to automatically trigger them to tell you that your frame is fake-but, you're in luck, you can buy the one they have there!Sometimes you'll find a gem of a salesperson who can truly help, but be aware some are less than knowledgeable.

12. Buying your Gucci's online? There are lots of fakes being sold online, but there are also legitimate sellers as well, so don't assume they are all fakes because it is being sold online.

You should look at things like if they are standing by their products, such as "100% Authentic Guaranteed". People who are selling fakes may not want to put that because it isn't authentic, but sometimes they might, look closely and lots of times maybe at the bottom or somewhere around the page, you might see something like "replica gucci", "looks like gucci", "similar to gucci", "good gucci copy" as if they mention that, then they can't really get in trouble because they told you it was a fake vaguely, so read their page carefully.

If you're buying Gucci sunglasses on eBay or Amazon, you should look closely at their feedback, if they have too many negatives and mentioning the item they bought was a fake, you might want to be careful. How to Spot Fake Chanel

There are many Chanel fakes out there because there is a high demand for them. Chanel sunglasses are one of most wanted brand of sunglasses in the world.

So we will show you how to spot fake Chanel sunglasses by seeing what to expect with a authentic pair of Chanel. It's quite easy to spot a fake Chanel because Chanel makes it hard for the copiers to copy as there is many signs to show it is authentic.

1. All Chanel sunglasses are made in Italy. You should always have a print on the sunglasses that the item was made in Italy, if that information is missing or it was made in a different country, you definitely have yourself a fake pair of Chanel sunglasses.

2. After the MADE IN ITALY on the inside of the temples, it should say CE. Most sunglass brands should have this on the frame.

3. Check the fonts on your Chanel sunglasses. Many times, fake Chanel sunglasses get this part wrong. They attempt to do it as close as possible, but rarely ever get it right. If you have an authentic pair available, compare the fonts used.

4. Also all the lettering on the inside of the Chanel temples should be in CAPITAL letters. No lower case is used on authentic Chanel sunglasses.

I know people tend to think products coming out of china is a bunch of junk, but the Ray-Bans made in china is still by them, just one is put together by the Chinese and the other by the Italians.

5. Chanel is manufactured by Luxottica Group, they are a Italian company and all Chanel sunglasses are made in their factories in Italy. If your Chanel sunglasses were made by anybody else, you have a fake Chanel sunglass.

6. On all authentic Chanel sunglasses, behind the lens, there will be a 10 digit serial number unique to that particular frame, it is a combination of both letters and numbers. If there is no serial number on the lens, then you definitely have a fake Chanel.

7. All authentic Chanel sunglasses have 100% UV Protection, if your Chanel does not have UV Protection, it must be a fake.

8. Anytime Chanel is written on the sunglasses, there is always the Copyright symbol on the left of it and on the right it has the Trademark sign. Any Chanel sunglasses that does not come with the Copyright and Trademark symbols, you definetly have a fake Chanel sunglass.

Chanel is written usually once on the inside of the temples and also on both of the lenses in the corner, never just on one lens, always on both lenses, like we mentioned, they should always have the copyright and trademark symbols and the word Chanel in the middle.

9. Now lets look on inside of the temples and it should always have the model number, color code and the size information printed on the temples.

Here is a example below...
5232-Q C. 1302/3B 58[]16 135

The model number is printed first, so "5232-Q" is the model number. Next is the color code which is "C. 1302/3B" It should always have the C. for color before the color code is mentioned. Last is the size information which is the last 3 numbers, it is measured in millimeters, 58 is the lens width, the 16 is the bridge width and the 135 is the temple length.

10. If your Chanel sunglasses claim to be polarized, don't just take their word for it.

11. The best thing to do is to go to a authorized Chanel dealer in your area and compare the one you have with the one in the store and they should be more or less identical. As mentioned, certain specifications printed on the interior temples could be on the opposite, but that's common across frames as they could have been an error with that particular batch.

Sometimes you'll find a gem of a salesperson who can truly help, but be aware some are less than knowledgeable.

I know people tend to think products coming out of china is a bunch of junk, but the Ray-Bans made in china is still by them, just one is put together by the Chinese and the other by the Italians.

12. Buying your Chanel's online? There are lots of fakes being sold online, but there are also legitimate sellers as well, so don't assume they are all fakes because it is being sold online.

You should look at things like if they are standing by their products, such as "100% Authentic Guaranteed". Not everyone is as skilled as you're going to be at spotting fake frames and may jump the gun! Look at the feedback ratio and go from there.

13. I would highly suggest buying your Chanel sunglasses at a authorized Chanel dealer, because there are many fakes being sold online and Chanel makes sure no one is selling their items online. Click Here and locate a Chanel dealer near you.

I hope this guide has brought out a bit of your inner nerd and offered some education so that you, too, can be a fake-detecting, imitation sensing sunglass sleuth!

Where are Ray-Bans made?

Many people believe that Ray-Bans are only made in Italy, but I'm here to give you the right answer.

Ray-Bans are actually made both in China and Italy, about 99% of RX frames are made there and just a few sunglass models are made at both or only in China.

Luxottica is the manufacturer of Ray-Bans and they have factories both in Italy and China. Certain sunglass models such as the RB 3267, RB 3211, RB 3293, RB 3379, RB 3386, RB 3387 and a few others are made in both or only in China and you are most likely going to get the one made in China.

I know people tend to think products coming out of china is a bunch of junk, but the Ray-Bans made in china is still by them, just one is put together by the Chinese and the other by the Italians.

I think Ray-Ban does need to stop making at-least there sunglasses in China, because people have the perception that Ray-Bans are only made in Italy, they should at-least mention that on their website to let people know. But sadly they don't seem to want to admit to it.

Also some people still think that Ray-Bans are made in the USA, but that was a long time ago back when Bausch and Lomb used to own Ray-Ban, but they sold Ray-Ban to an Italian company called Luxottica Group in 1999. Ever since, it has mainly been made in Italy, but now china too.
Also Luxottica Group, they own many other brands like Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Oakley, Maui Jim and so on, but even with those brands and so many more, Ray-Ban makes up about 60% of their business. Just think of that, they have so many other popular brands, but still, 60% is a huge chunk of the pie. So making them in China for them, is simply for profit. Like the famous quote "it's just business, nothing personal"

So what do you guys think? Don't you think Ray-Ban should stop making their products in China or do you think it is ok? Comment below...

James Bond 007 Daniel Craig Sunglasses in Skyfall 2012

Daniel Craig will be wearing the new Tom Ford Marko TF 144 color 18V sunglasses in the new James bond movie Skyfall which will be coming out in October 2012.

For those of you who love James bond gadgets, you gotta look the part aswell. As of yet, it does not come in any kind 007 box, case, cloth etc like the previous sunglasses, but I would assume they will soon.

The TF 144 Marko is similar to the older TF 108 James Bond sunglasses, I think this new version is a lot nicer, the older TF 108 seemed more fancy, they are both aviator styles, but the TF 144 Marko seems more casual looking, but still flashy without overdoing it and I believe these will do very well.

Tom Ford TF 144 18V

You should get them fast, because every year a new James bong sunglass is released, they fly off the shelves. So get them as early as possible and don't regret not getting them.  Also It'll be a lot cheaper than that Aston or Rolex.

How to Spot Fake Prada's

There are several things you can do to ensure your Prada's are authentic and not a fake.

1. Check that they are "Made in Italy" all Prada sunglasses are made in Italy by Luxottica who is the manufacturer for Prada. Prada's are not made anywhere else, so if you told they are, it's a lie and you have yourself a fake Prada.

2. Your Prada should come in a box and the following included, a Prada cleaning cloth, Prada Case, Luxottica info booklet and of course, the Authenticity Card, which comes in a envelope and is white and has a credit card shape and feel to it.

3. Also, on the inside of the lenses there will be a serial number engraved on the lenses, this serial number is unique to your Prada sunglasses, fakes do not have this.

4. Also one of the temples will have this same exact serial number engraved on to it, this is to confirm that the lenses and frame hasn't been altered in anyway and that they go together.

5. Check the inside of your temples, on one side, it'll have a printing that says something like this "SPR 54IS 5AV3M1 57 [] 18-135" Below is what they stand for...

-The S in SPR stands for Sun, in RX frames, it'll be VPR, the V stands for Vision.
-The 54IS is the model number of your frame.
-The 5AV3M1 is the color code for the frame. Prada color codes contain 6 number and letters, the first 3 is the frame color code and the last 3 are the lens color code.
-The 57 [] 18-135, it'll be 3 numbers, this is the measurement for the frame and is measured in Millimeters, the first number 57mm is the lens width, 18mm is the bridge width and the 135mm is the temple length.

6. If your Prada sunglasses claim to be polarized, don't just take their word for it. You can do a simple check if they are polarized. All you need is your computer monitor and your sunglasses! Put your sunglasses in front of the computer monitor and turn it to the right, while looking through the lens at the monitor.

7. Check the fonts on your Prada sunglasses. Many times, fake Prada sunglasses get this part wrong. They attempt to do it as close as possible, but rarely ever get it 100% right. If you have an authentic pair available, compare the fonts used.

8. The best thing to do is to go to a authorized Prada dealer in your area and compare the one you have with the one in the store and they should be more or less identical.

So I would suggest going to more than one place and getting multiple opinions.

9. Buying your Prada's online? There are lots of fakes being sold online, but there are also legitimate sellers as well, so don't assume they are all fakes because it is being sold online.

You should look at things like if they are standing by their products, such as "100% Authentic Guaranteed". People who are selling fakes may not want to put that because it isn't authentic, but sometimes they might, look closely and lots of times maybe at the bottom or somewhere around the page, you might see something like "replica Prada", "looks like Prada", "similar to Prada", "good Prada copy" as if they mention that, then they can't really get in trouble because they told you it was a fake vaguely, so read their page carefully.

If you're buying Prada sunglasses on eBay or Amazon, you should look closely at their feedback, if they have too many negatives and mentioning the item they bought was a fake, you might want to be careful.

I hope this guide has brought out a bit of your inner nerd and offered some education so that you, too, can be a fake-detecting, imitation sensing eyewear nerd!

What is the difference between D&G and Dolce & Gabbana?

Some people might be confused what is the difference between a D&G and a Dolce & Gabbana frames, they are actually both the same company, Dolce & Gabbana is the more expensive line of glasses and are always made in Italy, Dolce & Gabbana has a cheaper line called D&G, a few are made in Italy, but the majority is made in China for cost reasons.

I know people tend to think products coming out of china is a bunch of junk, but the Ray-Bans made in china is still by them, just one is put together by the Chinese and the other by the Italians.

So how can you tell them apart? By simply looking at the model number, the D&G's will be like this DD 8065 and a Dolce & Gabbbana like this DG 4111, simply look if it says DD or DG.

Also have in mind there is a brand called DG Eyewear, which is misleading, as some people may think DG stands for Dolce & Gabbana which it does not. If you are at there site, at the very bottom, it does have a disclaimer "DG Eyewear ®, Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses ® and D&G Sunglasses ® are separate trademarked brands. We only sell DG Eyewear® branded sunglasses. If you are looking for Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses ® or D&G Sunglasses ®, please visit an authorized dealer."

Also their frames only cost like $10-$20, even the cheaper D&G's retail for about $120-$200

So hopefully I clarified what the differences were and now you can be a eyewear nerd just like me.
